What I treat

Hair, scalp and beard

Hair loss and changes in density, scalp and beard conditions, dermatitis, psoriasis, scarring changes. We establish the cause, perform trichoscopy, and build a personalised treatment and care plan.

General health

Fatigue, nutrient deficiencies, weight changes, disturbed sleep, chronic conditions, monitoring of laboratory results and preventive health screening. Often this is exactly where the cause of a skin or hair problem is found.

With scarring changes, the goal is to stop the process and preserve what is there; full regrowth is not always possible. I say this directly at the first consultation.

What happens at a consultation

  1. Conversation

    We start with your history: when it began, what changed over time, which tests you already have, what you are taking, your lifestyle and any other conditions. Quite often the direction becomes clear at this stage alone.

  2. Examination and trichoscopy

    I examine the scalp under magnification: hair density, the ratio of fine to thick hairs, the state of the follicular openings, and any signs of inflammation or scarring - then photograph it where useful, so we can compare later.

  3. The plan

    I explain what is happening and why, order the tests or treatment that are actually needed, and we agree when to reassess. You leave with a plan, not a list of products.

For patients outside Kyiv and outside Ukraine. We go through your symptoms, lab results and previous investigations, and I give personalised recommendations - with an explanation of which steps come first.

An online consultation does not replace an in-person examination and trichoscopy. If those are needed, I will tell you plainly and advise how to arrange them where you live.

For patients who need their progress monitored. Regular contact, assessment of results, and adjustment of the plan during the course of treatment - so you do not wait months to find out whether it is working.

How an online consultation works

  1. Before the call: you send a short description of the problem, any previous reports and lab results, and photographs of the affected area.
  2. Language: consultations are held in English or Ukrainian.
  3. Platform and time: Google Meet or Zoom - we agree a slot that works in your time zone.
  4. During the consultation: 30-45 minutes - we go through your history, lab results, previous reports and photographs together.
  5. Afterwards: you receive written recommendations and a plan for the next steps within 1-2 working days.

In-person consultations take place at the clinic in Kyiv, where the trichoscope and everything needed for a full examination are available. Booking and administration go through the clinic; the consultation itself follows the same approach described above.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a trichologist and a dermatologist?
A dermatologist works with the skin as a whole; a trichologist works more narrowly with the scalp, the hair and the follicle. In my case family medicine is added to that, so I also look at your general condition: deficiencies, hormones, chronic conditions, lifestyle. Quite often the cause of hair loss sits there rather than on the scalp.
What does trichoscopy show, and is it uncomfortable?
Trichoscopy is an examination of the scalp under high magnification. It shows hair density, the ratio of fine to thick hairs, the state of the follicular openings, and signs of inflammation or scarring - things the eye cannot see. It is non-invasive and painless: the device simply rests against the scalp.
Which lab results should I have ready for the consultation?
If you already have results, bring all of them, including older ones - that is how the trend becomes visible. If you have none, do not order tests "just in case": what is needed depends on the picture, and I will request exactly that after the examination, so you do not pay for anything unnecessary.
When can the results of hair loss treatment be assessed?
The hair follicle works in cycles, so the first objective changes are usually assessed no earlier than three months in, with a fuller picture at six months. That does not mean nothing is happening before then - before then, we are acting on the cause.
Can this be resolved online, without an in-person examination?
Partly. Online I can review your history, lab results, previous reports and good photographs, and that is often enough to establish the direction and order the right tests. What cannot be done online is trichoscopy. If the picture needs examination under magnification, I will say so plainly.
How long is a consultation, and what do I receive afterwards?
A consultation takes 30-45 minutes. Afterwards you receive written recommendations: what is happening, which tests are needed, what to do about treatment and care, and when we reassess.

An online consultation is not emergency care. If your condition is acute, contact your local emergency service (103 in Ukraine).
